Introduction
By completing this unit candidates will develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of the
process of planning, drafting, developing and creating a DTP document to meet the needs of a
target audience. Candidates will develop their graphics manipulation skills to edit and develop a
series of images for inclusion in their DTP document, as well as create a simple graphic using the
graphic tools available in DTP packages.
Candidates will be able to:
- plan a document to meet a given brief
- create and apply style sheets
- use graphics tools to create basic shapes
- develop images for inclusion in a completed document
- prepare publication for final print.

Task 1 - Plan the Document
Assessment Objective 1 is assessed in this task.
This task will involve researching and planning for the document you intend to create. You will be deciding on audience and aims as well as software and timescale for the document.

Task 2 - Create Styles
Assessment Objective 2 is assessed in this task.
In this task you will be choosing the styles that will be used throughout the document. these styles will look at the fonts and layouts that you intend to use.

Task 3 - DTP Layout Tools
Assessment Objective 3 is assessed in this task.
In this task you will be creating the block layout for the content by creating the text an image frames you will require. You will go on to assemble the content.

Task 4 - DTP Drawing Tools
Assessment Objective 4 is assessed in this task.
In this task you will be using drawing tools in the DTP package to add graphics to your document.

Task 5 - Prepare for Print
Assessment Objective 5 is assessed in this task.
In this task you will be completing the standard stages in preparing a document for commercial multiple printing.
