OCR Nationals Level 2 Media
To gain this qualification, you will need to complete 3 units:
- Unit 2 – Introduction to Media Preproduction
- Unit 3 - Introduction to Media Production
- Unit 4 – Marketing and Presenting a Media Product
The three units are intrinsically linked and are all based around you planning, creating and
marketing a short video film that fulfils the following brief:
“What is it like to be a teenager!”
The film should aim to be a 5 minute long insight into you and your world. It should focus on
whichever aspects of your life you choose but help to explain who you are,
what you do and why you do it.

Unit 2 – Introduction to Media Preproduction
You must create a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates your abilities in a range of media.
Your evidence should be a digital folder that can be assessed; the evidence can take any form
you choose using any software you feel suitable.
There are 5 stages to this unit:
- Stage 1 – Showing your AV skills
- Stage 2 – Showing your Personal Skills
- Stage 3 – Creating Your Proposal
- Stage 4 – Conducting Research
- Stage 5 – Reviewing Progress

Unit 3 – Introduction to Media Production
